Kinh doanh quốc tế, việc thanh toán mua bán hàng hóa giữa các doanh nghiệp ở các quốc gia khác nhau thường sử dụng nhiều loại tiền khác nhau của các quốc gia. Khi ký hợp đồng và khi thanh toán có nhiều rủi ro do ở các thời điểm chào hàng và thanh toán khác nhau. Vì thế phòng ngừa rủi ro trong thanh toán là cần thiết.
